SCI 490. Science for the Elementary Teacher.
(2-2-3): I, II.
Prerequisites: BIOL 110, SCI 111, SCI 112, Math 232. Corequisite: EDEE 321 and EDUC 482. Restriction: admission to TEP. This course focuses on the development of competencies in materials and methods for teaching science to elementary children. Emphasis is placed on writing curriculum, learning the elementary science theory base, questioning strategies, best practices, science process skills, cooperative learning, technology, and assessment. Fifteen hours field experiences are an integral part of this course.
