Prerequisites: ASTR 112, MATH 175, and PHYS 232. A study of the properties, formation, structure, and evolution of stars with an emphasis on the physical principles underlying the observed phenomena. Topics include the observed properties of stars, the birth, evolution, and death of stars; and stellar remnants such as pulsars, black holes, and white dwarfs.
