Program Competencies
The Associate Degree Nursing Program graduate will:
- Integrate the role of the registered nurse into the nursing practice.
- Incorporate effective communication skills in therapeutic and collaborative roles.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the use of the nursing process and clinical reasoning within a multicultural society.
- Develop competency in the performance of caring behaviors to meet client care needs.
- Integrate concepts of effective management of client care through prioritization, collaboration, coordination, delegation, and effective utilization of resources in dynamic health care systems.
- Analyze legal, ethical and value-based issues embedded in nursing care.
- Evaluate the influences of nutrition and pharmacology in the care of individuals with diverse backgrounds across the lifespan.
- Incorporate current technologies and clinical informatics in the provision and management of nursing care.
Assessment Procedures
Course content and program outcomes are assessed by formative and summative standardized testing, and graduate performance on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN). Students complete standardized testing at the completion of each course within the curriculum to evaluate course specific outcomes. Students complete standardized testing during the last week of the program to assess program outcomes. Following graduation each student must complete the NCLEX-RN to gain licensure as a registered nurse.
Associate of Applied Science
The ADNP is a program of study leading to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree with an area of concentration in nursing. The program combines general education studies with nursing theory and clinical education. The program is designed to prepare graduates for the role of the registered nurse. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
