Gerontology Option
(36 hours)
- Students electing this option must complete a minimum of 36 semester hours in sociology, including SOC 615 and SOC 650. Nine of these hours must be a professional practicum in social agencies or independent research. Eighteen semester hours exclusive of the practicum must be earned in courses at the 600 level (three semester hours of independent study or independent research may be taken to meet 600 level course requirements).
- Completion of a minimum of nine semester hours in gerontology or gerontology-related courses.
- A written comprehensive examination or thesis.
